About Us

David  Whiddon  and  Lloyd  Figgins  met in 2002 whilst leading trekking expeditions in Peru, since then they have kept in touch regularly - sharing in common a love of adventure,  a working interest in remote medicine, and can spend hours talking about Shackleton, Fiennes, Knox Johnston and other great explorers.

David is a former Royal Marine, who has worked as an outdoor leader in Northern California’s wilderness areas and throughout South America.


He was also an expedition interpreter for Raleigh International in Patagonia, Chile.


He recently cycled from the southernmost tip of Argentina to Mexico.


David is an RNLI Inshore Lifeboat, Sea Survival and First Aid Trainer. He has taught a number of well known personalities sea survival skills, including James Cracknell and Ben Fogle in their successful bid to row the Atlantic. Zoe Salmon and Andy Akinwolere (Blue Peter) and Neil Oliver (Coast) have also been trained by David.


He has completed a number of fundraising events for the RNLI including spending 24 hours in a liferaft and running the Snowdon Marathon.


When not undertaking challenges, he enjoys running, sea kayaking and cycling in his limited spare time.

Lloyd is a specialist in Remote Field Safety and Risk Management. He has previously worked as an expedition leader on treks throughout the world, including the Inca Trail in Peru, the Sierra Madre in Mexico and Mt. Kilimanjaro in Kenya.


Through his work and love of adventure, Lloyd has travelled to over 50 countries in some of the remotest and dangerous parts of the world. The Atlantic Ocean row has been a challenge he has dreamed about for a number of years.


Lloyd is also qualified as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and specialises in pre-hospital emergency care in remote environments.


In his spare time, he enjoys rugby, cricket and hiking.
